Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-13 (v1). This page is an operator draft for product transparency — not legal advice. Review with counsel before relying on it for regulatory filings.
1. Who we are
Joy Fruit English (“we”) operates joyfruitenglish.com for online English lesson booking and related parent/teacher tools. Operator contact for privacy requests: eri@joyfruitenglish.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data: email address, password (stored by our auth provider, not in plain text), display name, role (parent/teacher).
- Household data: child first names / profiles you add, co-parent invite emails.
- Booking and lesson operations: lesson times, cancel/reschedule history, reminder preferences, optional Zoom join links we provision.
- Contact form: name, email, message content.
- LINE Login (when you use it): LINE’s user identifier for your account, profile name/icon LINE shares with us, and email if you grant email permission. We store the LINE link so you can sign in again (longer than 24 hours).
- Google Sign-In (when you use it): Google’s user identifier for your account, name and profile photo Google shares with us, and email. We use these only to create or sign in to your Joy Fruit account and keep you signed in. We do not access your Gmail, Drive, or other Google services through Sign-In.
- Technical: session cookies needed to stay signed in; standard server logs.
3. Purposes of use
- Create and secure your account (including email/password, LINE, or Google Sign-In); reset passwords.
- Provide booking, household, teacher tools, and lesson reminders.
- Send essential transactional email about lessons and invites.
- Notify you by email when this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use, or other legal notices on this site are updated.
- Respond to contact-form inquiries.
- Meet legal or accounting retention duties when payments exist.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use your email, LINE, or Google Sign-In data for unrelated advertising lists.
4. Processors / sharing
We use service providers to run the product (for example: hosting, database/auth including Supabase Auth for Google Sign-In, email delivery, video meeting provisioning). They process data only to provide those services. LINE and Google process login according to their own terms when you choose those sign-in methods. We may disclose data when required by law.
5. Retention
We keep account and operational data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove your login and profile, including LINE and Google Sign-In links stored with that auth user.
Payments and credits: checkout orders, payment records (including PSP ids), and household lesson credits are kept to run the service and meet accounting/tax duties. Payment/invoice-style records are typically retained for Japan statutory windows (often 7 years for transaction docs; confirm with an accountant) and then erased or anonymized. Login/profile PII is not kept longer than needed after account deletion, subject to those payment-retention exceptions. We do not offer cash refunds; unused credits expire after 90 days.
6. Your choices and rights
- View account email and profile on Account; change password; opt out of lesson reminder emails.
- Unlink LINE or Google Sign-In from Account while keeping another sign-in method (when that method is linked). You can also revoke Joy Fruit English under your Google Account → third-party access.
- Delete your account from Account (type DELETE to confirm). Deletion removes LINE and Google Sign-In links stored with that auth user.
- Request access, correction, deletion, or suspension of use by emailing eri@joyfruitenglish.com. We will respond without undue delay where legally required.
7. Security and incidents
We use industry-standard hosting and auth controls. If a security incident involves LINE User Information, we will investigate, notify affected users where required, and notify LY Corporation / LINE as required by the LINE User Data Policy. Internal runbook: docs/LEGAL-OBLIGATIONS.md § Incident runbook.
8. Children
Accounts are for parents/guardians and teachers. Child profiles are managed by parents; we minimize child data to what booking and progress features need.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Each version is dated and kept on this site so you can read past revisions. When we publish a new version, we email account holders a short summary of what changed and a link to the updated page. The current version applies from its published date; material changes are reflected here before they apply to new collection where practical.
